What underpins species sensitivies to global forest harvests?

Why do some species decline in abundance after forest harvests, while others increase? Are there traits or thresholds of biomass removal that can help explain what’s going on? How important have historical extinction filters been in shaping the harvest responses of today’s species assemblages? And, most importantly, can we use data-driven approaches to approximate harvest responses for the many tens of thousands of species whose ranges overlap harvested forest areas?
